Last Saturday instead of sitting at home to watch the rugby, my friends and I headed out for a bite to eat in one of the newer places in town. Bamboozle is situated along the river in the lovely new building that replaces the old Santorini restaurant corner of Cambridge Tce, flanked by cool drinking venue Whet, and one of Johnny Schwass’ eateries, it offers fusion Asian flavours. It was buzzing at 8pm and you can see why it’s often full.
The menu is somewhat un-PC but also entertaining, and offers dim sum, sharing plates, smaller offers and mains. A couple of us ordered entrees, while others of us stuck to just a main offering. My choice was a spicy chicken with chillies and spicy nuts and it was absolutely divine! Others had curry, nasi goring, pad Thai (incidentally large enough to feed a table!) and one ordered the shashimi platter. I don’t really eat fish, but even I had to admit it looked amazing!
We were all too full to really bother with dessert – we will go back for just dessert some time soon, but two of the seven ordered something sweet!
Highly recommended, good service and fabulous food. A big open kitchen makes for fascinating viewing as well. I’d definitely go back, and definitely recommend!
