I’ve got two photos this week. I have taken a few days to tag on to the long weekend and I went into Cranmer Square today, ahead of the crowds that will be there on ANZAC day, to take a photo of the crosses. Each year until 2018 more crosses will be added to this remembrance field. Last year there were only 639 crosses – indicating the number of Cantabrians killed in the first world war in 1915. This year 825 were added for those killed in 1916. 1464 of our local men killed, only halfway through the war.
